2026 Odds Review #7: 23/02
It’s been a week of consolidation in the market with Finland just holding on in top spot but with Greece close behind. Denmark too have continued to find backing in the market and sit in single figures and third position.
Belgium had been gradually drifting in concerns over their effort level and how much they really want to be here having been on the edge of withdrawing too. Elyssa has been sourced as the representative and it's not unfair to say this isn't their strongest ever showing... Their knack of doing well when not expected to would be very useful.
Austria have been near the foot of the odds from day 1 practically and that's understandable with the general underperformance of hosts and dodging the method of selection from last year in favour of a national final, clearly showing a mentality shift from win to enjoy the party. Cosmo's victory has not moved the needle at all in this regard, and instead sent them deeper into no hoper range.
Australia have been the only real feature of the rumour mill this week with Delta Goodream's name entering the frame for the 14th year running and they've only been in it since 2015. Watch it be Danii Minogue now... In seriousness, that gossip saw their price half to mid 20s before heading back out a little.
The UK’s announcement of Look Mum No Computer has kept their price steady overall. It’s the sort of selection that could have real upside to it but it’s hard to be too sure with the BBC.
Next week is one of the busiest I can remember with Sanremo starting on Tuesday and staying with us until Saturday where Italy will indirectly select their act - or at least offer first refusal. Things could move quick for the current favourites or drag out like Olly's soul searching and meditation last year before runner up Lucio Corsi was parachuted in. Melfest Heat 5 is on the horizon too in Sweden which could be a classic if the names are on their game and is certainly harder to predict blind than yesterday's semi 4. Norway, Germany, Serbia and current favourites Finland all choose on Saturday and Bulgaria will decide their song from the as yet unreleased options.
Lithuania should be the next confirmed entry however beating all those to the punch by going on the Friday unless any internal is dropped impromptu before then.
